Root 66 Farms is a pioneering company that focuses on hemp cultivation and genetics. I was introduced to them shortly after they secured their seed round of funding. My role was more than just director of marketing. I also assisted with business development including consulting on tissue culture and white label services, as well as providing assistance in additional financial raises. Here are some of the highlights:

OUTCOME

developed Root 66 brand based on the relationship to Pontiac, IL and Route 66 Highway system
assisted in gaining Organic Certification for products
secured a relationship with Hempliance – a leader in blockchain-based seed-to-sale compliance software
created UX driven marketing (website, email and social media)
created multiple product catalogs

RESULTS

secured series A and B rounds of funding
expanded to two locations in Pontiac, IL
launched cloning facility with Agrecol
setup tissue culture center with Pantheon Industries
secured sale of clones for $200,000

GAP USA

Great Atlantic USA is the brainchild of the Main Pharmacy Association’s director. Born during the pandemic, the patent-pending sanitizer formula used in gels, wipes and sprays has now grown into a line of soaps and detergents. The client needed a simple but eye-catching website to educate potential clients about their proprietary, FDA-approved sanitizer product, as well as convert new business. We started with an IA document outlining exactly what was needed to move forward:

UMS

Urgent Medical Supply was founded by myself and my business partner (a physician). We both had a great number of family personally impacted by COVID-19 (many work in the medical field) and pooled our resources to create a new supply chain for PPE from China to the United States. We formed an advisory board of top-tier scientists and medical professionals that allowed us to create a state-of-the-art SOP for disinfection and chain of custody of PPE. We also partnered with one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Midwest to handle our distribution which supplied disabled individuals with jobs.

OUTCOME

secured partnership with the largest school district in the United States supplying them with over 10 million masks over the course of the pandemic
worked with state, local and federal organizations delivering millions of masks, gloves and sanitizer

RESULTS

completely secure PPE supply chain that was uninterrupted throughout the pandemic
gross receipts of over $3million in under 2 years.
donations of over $200,000 in PPE to schools, hospitals and townships in the Chicagoland area

OG Pen

The OG pen is an all-in-one vaporizer product used with cannabis. The difficulty was marketing the product to the correct demographic despite the restrictions placed on cannabis marketing. My team and I decided to something completely different for this project. Instead of the traditional marketing that was flooding the internet at the time for these types of products, we created a “noir” style to brand the product. We used a multi-platform approach that included gamification, viral short-form videos with extended story lines and tied them together with web and social media marketing. The results were nothing short from incredible.

OUTCOME

built a heavily UX tested, completely custom e-commerce site that resonated with cannabis users in the target demo
followed with an aggressive email marketing campaign utilizing leaderboard giveaways
shot several short-form videos that instructed customers on where a secret ‘stash’ of vape kits were located
did all this WITHOUT being able to post on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram (these products were blocked at the time)

RESULTS

product sold out 4 weeks before launch (50,000 units)
helped to solidify company’s financial for private placement (and eventually purchase by another company)

Print Works

This is not a project but instead a collection of graphic-design projects that I have enjoyed over the years. UX-centric design throughout (notice no solid blacks or whites) but these are ones that stuck with me…everything from billboards to bike helmets…it’s been done. I have also included Figma mockups in this section as well mostly from apps that I have worked on previously.
