OG Pen
The OG pen is an all-in-one vaporizer product used with cannabis. The difficulty was marketing the product to the correct demographic despite the restrictions placed on cannabis marketing. My team and I decided to something completely different for this project. Instead of the traditional marketing that was flooding the internet at the time for these types of products, we created a “noir” style to brand the product. We used a multi-platform approach that included gamification, viral short-form videos with extended story lines and tied them together with web and social media marketing. The results were nothing short from incredible.

OUTCOME
- built a heavily UX tested, completely custom e-commerce site that resonated with cannabis users in the target demo
- followed with an aggressive email marketing campaign utilizing leaderboard giveaways
- shot several short-form videos that instructed customers on where a secret ‘stash’ of vape kits were located
- did all this WITHOUT being able to post on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram (these products were blocked at the time)
RESULTS
- product sold out 4 weeks before launch (50,000 units)
- helped to solidify company’s financial for private placement (and eventually purchase by another company)
